Jim started from humble beginnings and as he developed into a student of life he realized he must learn and develop himself to be great. Jim Rohn seasons of life is his portfolio of audio tapes and books about becoming the best you can be.
In this post, I want to share a few of the key lessons I learned from him.

1. The major key to your better future is you.
You have full control over your destiny. Your attitude is very important. What happens in life happens to everybody. What matters is how you think about it and how you respond.
Value makes the difference in results because you can’t get more time. So you must learn how to become more valuable. You must learn how to study, practice, and better yourself by primarily working on yourself.
You can’t change what’s going on “out there” but you can change what’s going on “in here.”
A few of his quotes that I like are about VALUE and how you don’t get paid for the time you get paid for the value. And how day follows night every year, there is some regularity to life at least in cycles.
I also like that his messages revolve around YOU being the power to fix everything. If you want to fix something then you have the power to make different decisions.

Jim Rohn makes me want to be a speaker eventually because he gets paid for his craft and people listen to him and buy his work to support their development.
In his books, his personal development story is captured well:
- The Philosophy for Successful Living
- 7 Strategies for Wealth and Happiness
- The Seasons of Life
- Twelve Pillars

Your income is determined by your philosophy and not by the economy. It takes but a few ideas to make a difference in your income that’s all about your personal philosophy. Thoughts > Beliefs > Actions
Don’t blame stuff on other people or circumstances. Don’t relinquish your responsibility. Jim Rohn seasons of life research is about understanding the simplicity of life that compounds and in the moments of ups and downs, you will always have the key to rising above challenges. It helps to have a personal philosophy.
2. Personal Philosophy
Develop your ability to learn from other people’s experiences and also the ability to learn from your own experiences. Then take a look at your values and beliefs.
What do you stand for?
Always keep a journal do not trust your memory if you want to live an amazing and dynamic life.
Be a great observer and a great listener plus read all of the great books you can to give yourself different insights of failure and success.
Jim Rohn seasons of life is about maturing and observing how life progresses and the cycles that are evident in life both sowing and reaping.
Being positive and believing in yourself are both essential to having a successful career. People with a positive mindset are confident in their abilities and reap the benefits of that attitude. Life can be very difficult if you do not fill yourself with positive and uplifting self-talk.
A positive mindset can help you increase your productivity. Being positive keeps you in a motivated state to perform You will have more motivation to complete tasks and learn new skills. This helps in your career and personal life. Being positive will make you far more successful than not believing in yourself.

Learning and reading books can help anyone understand from one perspective what it takes to be successful in life. We each can become more knowledgeable and gain valuable employment opportunities through reading books.
Learn and experiment to create your own journey.
Focusing on learning and discipline will help you develop a strong mindset for success.
Having a positive attitude is not always easy. Motivation can be temporary so we should refresh ourselves often to keep out of pessimism for too long. You need to maintain your good spirits so that you positively react to challenges. Your route to success will be a tad easier because you believe in yourself enough to put the time into improving your mental state first.
Personal philosophies also shape great entrepreneurs. If this is a path you are interested in, you can read my article here about how to become an entrepreneur.
Here is a unique scale to stay postive and avoid the spiral of negative emotions:

It’s important to develop a strong belief in yourself if you want to achieve success in life and in the work environment. Working hard every day is essential for making this happen, but doing so with a positive mindset makes all the difference. It is certainly harder to do so with a negative mindset.
People with a positive mindset tend to be more successful than those who aren’t as optimistic about their abilities. A positive mindset can increase your productivity whcih can grow your wealth. Learning about the world and strengthening your mind are both important aspects of adopting a positive mindset.
3. Your Library
Start building the habit of reading if you do not have it already. Read a bit per day.
And often with your libraries so that one day you will have one library that is impressive to you and to your friends into all the people you want to influence. On YouTube, I have a Playlist of Jim rohn audio tapes that I listen to frequently with some of my favorite speakers.
“You don’t want to give major things minor time.”
– Jim Rohn
After you get out of school you must continue your education. Keep learning and keep getting new fresh ideas just because you graduate does not mean you are done learning. It is never too late to start learning no matter what other people say even what your negative self says.
After selling millions of copies worldwide, Jim Rohn’s inspirational works became part of American folklore— inspiring readers everywhere to follow their dreams and to become better. To be a great author you must first become a great reader.
It’s important that you have a good plan when the amounts are small especially these times because if you think that you will have the chance to be faithful over more then that is a great error of judgment.
I have added this video to my library of motivation.

Life is accumulative and we add up to get errors that we don’t get are things that we actually earned but it all stacks on one another and consequences cannot be avoided. Now rather than later is the best time to start fixing things if you don’t have the right plan.
You can not do what you do not know so you have to keep learning and exposing yourself to new ideas and not expect the television or the Internet to expose you to what you actually need to learn.
What you do not know can still hurt you so it is important for you to continue learning and exposing yourself to new ideas. The love of learning and getting better is what we must possess to increase our likelihood of success.
Philosophy sets the course of our lives and what you know ends up being what you believe. Your values and how you interpret life and understand the world determines how you act so don’t lack here.
Most of us inherit values from our family or somewhere but its best to inventory these too.
Are these values YOUR beliefs now that you are old enough to form your own understanding of life?
4. Who am I around?
Take an honest look at your social circle. If they are not improving themselves then you may need to be a part of a different circle.
Not what am I getting but who am I becoming?
– Jim Rohn
Discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs tons.
Where are my thoughts taking me?
A major bit is what you tell yourself. You are not your mind.
And if you don’t intentionally and consistently plant positivity, than negativity may arise from your environment and will control the show. You can prevent this.
Be positive and hang around positive people. Deal with them in a mutually beneficial manner. I found a strategy that works and you can read that blog post here.

Jim Rohn’s idea of determining how someone’s life is: life happens to everybody, it’s all a matter of what you do about it is profound. Because we all experience ups and downs.
Since we are one of the beings that can exercise our minds, we should focus on what we can do to not rely on instinct but therefore to make better decision based on what we learn and experience in life. Our philosophy is a major key to unlocking the good life.
“Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want.”
– Jim Rohn
5. Your Work Ethic
Jim Rohn is known to millions of readers as the self-help hero who inspired them to reach their goals. He developed his work ethic after several engagements with a mentor. He learned much and became a speaker and an author.
He also left behind a series of self-help books and audio tapes that have sold millions of copies worldwide and continue to sell to this day as part of his legacy. Throughout his life, he worked hard to provide for his family and live an inspirational life himself.
“I worked around the clock, around the clock so that I would make up in numbers what I lacked in skill.”
– Jim Rohn
We all have different backgrounds and work ethic is something that is learned from your environment and the people you surround yourself with. I find that hearing people’s stories helps to reengage your work ethic.
A strong work ethic allows you to use your abilities effectively while also being responsible enough not to abuse those abilities until it ruins you or others around you.
Jim Rohn demonstrated that anyone could achieve success if they were willing to apply a positive mindset and disciplined action to their daily life. As time went on, Jim Rohn continued writing more books about positive thinking and developing your work ethic through your philosophy of life.

To be truly successful one must also exhibit self-discipline and be a person of integrity. One of the key lessons Rohn taught was that “you cannot be a success unless you believe in yourself and are willing to act upon this belief.”
Jim Rohn followed through on this wisdom by devoting much of his life to writing inspirational books that would teach others how to become self-made men like him. His work has helped countless people realize their dreams and gain respect from society at large.
If one applies enough positive thinking towards achieving one goal after another…one will eventually succeed in life if they never give up.
6. Setting SMART goals
Be optimistic and think big in your goal setting. Not only does one have to apply positive thinking towards achieving each goal…but one also has to avoid negative thoughts towards oneself so as not to sabotage one’s own efforts.

Be a life-long learner.
You will find it most helpful not to let emotions get in the way when making important decisions. So set SMART goals to determine your direction.
It may be well worth considering whether it makes sense for anyone but the most successful people (and those with access to sufficient funds) to devote so much time and energy towards achieving personal success!
7. Self-help positive life of learning mentor
Heroes in this series typically have one thing in common— they overcome overwhelming obstacles to achieve great things. A hero as someone who has learned to “gather maximum power to [his] personal center.”
A great leader is someone who has learned how to become self-reliant, strong-willed, and capable early on in his life. A mentor teaches you that you can achieve greatness at a much earlier age.
A mentor is a person who teaches you the skills you need. Her mentors taught her how to be self-reliant and how to create healthy habits for herself and her clients. Self-reliance is an important skill that allows you to take control when you encounter challenges in life.
Learn how to build healthy relationships with family members, clients, friends, and coworkers by communicating effectively and setting boundaries with others. Confidence comes from application and experience.
A mentor helps to guide you in the right direction. To succeed, you must develop a strong work ethic.
8. Life is like the seasons
The season of spring while understanding what the winters of life may bring.
Great leaders have learned how to use their skills effectively and responsibly throughout their lives— even when they were very young. Anyone can learn these skills if they are willing to put in the time and effort required.
Taking care of your mind and body, mental and physical health. Also, work on your emotional health. And Jim reminds me of spiritual health.
It’s not what happens to you. It’s about how you react to what life is throwing you right now. The major key to your better future is you so you must be able to thrive in whatever season is currently in place.

A strong work ethic combined with learned skills such as self-reliance will allow anyone at any age an opportunity toward greatness— even if this greatness happens decades before anyone expects it!
Work harder on yourself than you do on your job
– Jim Rohn
Surround yourself with the best people who have high standards.
Attending seminars, reading books, and applying what you have learned to your business, profession or trade for continuous learning. Webinars are good too.
Achieve goals by deciding what you want to do, writing it down, breaking the goal down into the steps needed to achieve it, and getting started. Jim Rohn seasons of life together make up a collection of wisdom that supports you in becoming your best self.
Spend each day wisely – manage your time.
9. Gratitude
Start every day with what you are grateful for rather than complaining. Writing down a list and referring to it throughout the day will help keep you in a good mood to procure and handle life’s obstacles.
Every day is a new opportunity to show appreciation for your experience and love to those who have helped you get this far.
Anyone who wants to succeed must learn the art and skill of influencing others. Everything we do in life is related to sales.
There can be a positive and a negative side to everything. But choose to focus on the positive, what you can control, and what you can do about it.
Income seldom exceeds personal development. If you want more, you have to become more.

When communicating, really listen to the other person. Find common ground, and understand the situation from the other person’s perspective.
To lead others is to help them change their thoughts, beliefs, and actions for the better. The world is always in high demand for leaders.
Leaders talk about what could be done and help others to achieve that vision.
10. Your legacy
Service to others is how you elevate your life. How do you want the world to remember you?
Will you use all your capabilities to serve others and your family and your community and accumulate resources so that you can pass those down?
There are many people who depend on your influence and some of these people are watching you from afar, you don’t really know that they are getting inspiration from you. With your gifts, you can change the world now and leave this world off much better when you pass on.
Service to your family and your community is bigger than you and this is your legacy. Its a life of giving back.

Leave a legacy by living a life that aligns with your values. Be a positive example for those who look up to you.
Ask, “how can I help you?”
And find ways to use your skills plus resources to assist people on their journey.
I hope you got something from my post on Jim Rohn Seasons of Life. The idea is you are the sole creator of your destiny and you DO have a choice. Here is a playlist of Jim Rohn audio tapes that you can listen to.
Help others where you can. Remember, the major key to a better future is you. Buy a journal and practice the habit of recording your daily thoughts and asking life questions for you to ponder and seek the answer to. Here is a post that I wrote about the power of journaling.

Didn’t take long to grab my attention on this one. There’s 2 things that stand out to me more than anything on a personal level.
The spiral of negative emotions graphic and “You can’t change what’s going on “out there” but you can change what’s going on “in here.””
Speaks directly to me which keeps me engaged throughout the article. Definitely adding a couple if his books to my must read
Another great read! Thank you for linking the YT video as well. The message hits different when there’s audio and visual! I also love the line of staying focused and being disciplined. I believe with these two character traits, it will be hard to miss what you’re destined for.
